Job Description:
We are looking to hire candidates to work on advanced computational models for our upstream business including exploration, development, production and marketing and transportation. Select areas of application for this work include reservoir simulation, earth and sedimentary modeling, seismic processing, supply chain optimization, reservoir production optimization, drilling & subsurface engineering and flow assurance.
Responsibilities:
- Work with computational scientists, engineers and geoscientists to understand business issues and technology so as to enhance, support and maintain computational tools, models, algorithms and software
- Implement software tools for enhanced usability and business uptake based on existing prototypes
- Analyze and benchmark numerical performance of underlying algorithms; implement improvements to algorithms to enhance performance
- Create tutorials, documentation, training material or case studies
- Build simulation models using proprietary and vendor tools to model business problems. Analyze simulation results and develop technical reports and presentations
- Design, build and execute parametric studies using simulation models to analyze performance, scalability and quality of results
- Create and maintain infrastructure to automate simulation preparation and execution, and to process and analyze simulation results
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or Masters degree (preferred) from a recognized university in one of the following disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Science or related disciplines with minimum GPA 7.0 and above
- Professional work experience in developing, applying and analyzing computational models and simulations and developing related algorithms. Minimum one year applied computational work experience for candidates with Masters degrees; and minimum two years of such experience for candidates with Bachelors degrees
- Strong knowledge of numerical methods is required
- Experience in prototyping tools such as MATLAB and Python is required
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in a collaborative environment is required
- Experience in technical software development is an advantage
- Expertise in programming languages such as C++ and C# is an advantage
- Experience working in Linux and in a High Performance Computing environment is an advantage
- Previous work experience in the upstream oil and gas industry is an advantage
