Job Description:
The role of Process Automation Engineer in Dow ideally calls for a person with the combined skills and knowledge of Chemical Engineer and Instrumentation and Controls Engineer.
In India this is a difficult combination to come by and hence we hire both Chemical Engineers and Instrumentation and Controls Engineers for this role whilst looking for demonstrable skills and knowledge in some of the following areas
Chemical Engineer:
- Good command over process control concepts and strategy
- Exposure to Plant Operations preferably through DCS.
- Plant commissioning and Start-up experience.
- Exposure to Advanced Process Control / APC implementation
- Exposure / Specialization in any of the major Chemical processes / technology.
- Experience in the Technical Services department of process plants.
- Working level knowledge of Automation systems & Instrumentation
- Has some level of exposure to control application development on DCS.
- Chemical engineers working in ABB, Siemens, Schneider, GE, Yokogawa, Emerson, Foxboro, Honeywell and other EPC consultants
Instrumentation and Controls Engineer:
- Solid instrumentation and Controls basics.
- Extensive experience in control application development on DCS.
- Flair for process control and strategy design
- Plant commissioning and start-up experience.
- Can demonstrate process knowledge of some of the process units he/she has developed control application for.
- Experience in engineering medium to large automation projects.
